Plate Burnaby Mountain Community-surficial geology show the surficial geology underlying Burnaby Mountain. Sandstones tend to be well drained and provide firm and stable footings for development. Conglomerates on the other hand, have high clay content and have poor drainage resulting in greater water retention. Poorly drained areas with high clay content are associated with surface conglomerate horizons.
